Imgur is updating its TOS, taking effect from May 15. Emphasis mine:

We will be focused on removing old, unused, and inactive content that is not tied to a user account from our platform as well as nudity, pornography, & sexually explicit content. You will need to download/save any images that you wish to save if they no longer adhere to these Terms. Most notably, this would include explicit/pornographic content.

If you have hosted your icons on Imgur, please check these are under your account, and if they're not, reupload them while logged in and use the new links to ensure your icon posts still work.

Going forward, ensure you're logged in when you upload icons onto Imgur.

Hello all!

I recently realized that a lot of people, both icon makers and roleplayers/icon users, didn't know about this place, so to that end I'm interested in trying to promote the comm a bit more. (Here is a replurkable Plurk if that's what you're into!)

One idea I've been toying with for a while which then came up in that Plurk from other people was creating a Plurk for the community and linking posts made here. It would likely be roundup Plurks potentially weekly or fortnightly, not a Plurk per post/when posts go up, mostly so I could keep up with it (life has been busy enough lately that I fell behind for a while on archiving) but also because I don't live in a North American time zone so there'd be a delay anyway.

There's a little poll in the comments since this isn't a paid account (how you found out about the comm, whether Plurks would be useful for icon users, and whether icon makers would be willing to have their posts Plurked) - please reply to the answer that applies to you, and feel free to elaborate on your answer. I would love to hear other advertising suggestions too.

And for those just joining us, icon makers and roleplayers alike, welcome, and I hope this comm is useful for you! Icon makers are welcome to post their backlogs of old icon sets.

Hey there, people, current mod here.

Just letting folks know that be stepping down as mod. I'm in grad school now and fell out of RP so I think it's time to move on. I'm handing over ownership of the comm to someone that volunteered on rpanons though so that it can still keep going.

Everything is caught up tags and memory-index wise so the new mod will just be taking over from here.

Thanks to everyone who's contributed over time! It's been close to a year that this comm has been going and there's a really great collection of canons and characters on here thanks to you guys and I'm really glad you've found the comm useful.

Please put the full name of the character in the character fields. For Eastern names, family name first, given name second is preferred, though if anyone messes that up, don't worry too much about it, I will check to make sure I'm not duplicating entries.

Indexing the characters is a fairly manageable task and is creating a comm that allows RPers to find icons by character. Indexing the characters when I have to google every single one of them in a post by first name to try to find the full name is not manageable and a little unreasonable to expect of a comm that is as organized as this. I feel it's reasonable to ask posters to take a second to put the last name of characters on their posts, especially since doing otherwise might mean I google and accidentally use the wrong name.

A note asking for the full names of the characters is already in the rules and has been so I'm going to take this a step more draconian because unfortunately I've had recurring issues with people not follow the rules and posting format. I've changed the rules to make all the requirements and consequences for not following them more clear.

A reminder: The limit per post is five characters, as the comm is geared towards indexing in the memories by character.

If you do not limit your posts to five characters, none of the characters will be indexed (meaning people will not find them when searching the memories) which renders posting them to the comm fairly useless as players won't easily find the icons. (This has now been amended in the stickypost to note the consequences of not following the guidelines).

Already we've had a few issues with people not following the posting guidelines and rules in several respects, so please read the rules and guidelines before posting. The more people break a specific rule in a certain volume, the more that rule will be streamlined so that players will not be contacted with a warning and the posts will either be not indexed or (if it keeps continuing to be a recurring problem) deleted.

Please follow the rules and guidelines of the comm. The more posts there are that don't do this, the more I'll have to just start deleting things without warning just to deal with the large volume of rule-breaking posts.

DWRP icons has twice monthly discussions posts on the second and last Friday of each month. In this post, you can request icons, offer icons to see what people might want, and offer icon commissions.

If you have any need to post graphics or images, please keep try to keep it light so the page can load quickly and offer put large groups of images behind links.

Please request a new fandom tag in the stickypost if you're the first to post to a new fandom.

I have had some some people posting to the comm for a new fandom without making a request for a new fandom tag (and a few have made it clear they saw there was no tag and that they just sort of threw up their hands). The Posting Guide makes it clear that requesting a fandom tag if you're the first to post to that fandom is required. The reason I'm doing it that way is that I want people to request it so that if I'm unfamiliar with the canon, I can talk to the person to make a tag name that will best cover the different things within that canon.

So far I've contacted the people who've done it and added the new tags since the comm is new but in the future, I will just be leaving the posts untagged and unindexed in the memories (effectively making them impossible to find by anyone looking). I won't be deleting them in case people just forgot and ask for a tag later (in which case I'll follow up go index the characters in the memories) but I will make them impossible to find if a tag isn't requested.

This new process will be added in the rules.

DWRP Icons is an icon community that is meant to be an easily searchable location for fandom icons for DWRP in the way icon sources like

pb_updates are for live action PBs.

The comm is organized using both the comm's tags and the memories. Tags can be used to search by fandom and the memories can be used to search by character. The mod will update the memories/character list on a rolling basis. Please see the Posting/Navigation guide at the bottom of this entry to see the ways the comm can be searched and how posts should be formatted.
